Remember how everyone told me that I could easily transition my baby from sleeping in our bed to sleeping in her own bed? Well, I would now like to call all of you out on the carpet as LIARS.
My child has been sleeping 7-8 hours IN A ROW every night. I'm in Heaven. Well, last night I decided it was time to move her to her own bed. UGH!!! After putting her there at 11:20, she wok up at 12:45 and then again at 1:30. It was at that time that Marcelo said, "just pull her into bed with us." I did where she remained asleep for the next 8 hours.
So, again, I am calling you all out as dirty filthy liars. You will be punished for your lies. You have made my life horrible and I blame you 100% for all my problems.
Just kidding. It's not entirely your fault. I think it also has something to do with the fact that her "crib" is right by the A/C vent. I think she's just too cold at night. When I picked her up 1:30 her cheeks and hands were so cold. So that could be part of the problem. I do put a blanket on her (as well as dressing her in those "footie" PJ's) but she always kicks it off. And it's not like I can put the blanket over her face!! Or could I. . . ? Kidding, always kidding.
But I do know that she does love to be by us. When she was taking her nap yesterday, she started to wake up early, and Marcelo crawled in bed next to her and just started to snuggle her, and she fell right asleep next to him. She loves being close to us. She must take after Raya in that aspect. And I think that's also contributing to her not wanting to sleep in her crib. I really hope that you are all right and she'll have no problem sleeping there once I move her off the Ice Box.
I don't know if you care (maybe you don't) but my boobs are officially REGULATED!!! WHOOO HOOO!!! They are no longer rock hard cantaloupes, but are now juicy juicy mangoes. I bet I made everyone really crave a fruit salad right there. But I've taken the advice of my blog commenters and have bought myself a box of Lansinoh pads. I used them once before, back when I thought that a pad would be enough for me, when I saw that I had a free set of them given to me in the hospital. I LOVED them because I noticed that when liquid hits them, they act like a diaper and absorb it quickly and turn into a gel.
Well, as soon as I realized I could graduate from the cups to pads, I knew I wanted some. They ROCK and you don't leak through your cloth pads in the middle of the night. Anyway, I have them now and I'm in love with them. They keep my milk right where it should be, and now I'm not afraid to go out in public anymore. You know what that means!! I'm hitting Ladies Night at Club Grind tonight!! (I don't know if there is such a place as Club Grind. But it sounds dirty enough to be real, right?)
Finally, I would like to say that I really appreciate all the comments I get on my blog. I think all of you have really contributed to making me a great mother. You definitely have calmed me down about some things, and made me realize that I'm going to make it through these crazy times. I hope I can someday be as helpful to you as you have been for me.

Amen to lansinoh breast pads! I love them and I can't get enough of them! I have used them all along and they work great for me! I have never ever leaked through. I love how they fit too. they aren't bulky and they aren't noticeable.
YEAH For regulated boobs!!! Isn't it amazing? I felt like my boobs went flat! Where did all the milk go!!!?! AMAZING stuff! The body is an amazing thing!
Good for you and breastfeeding! I love it and my baby is almost 1! WOW!
I love your posts!
I say that if Evita likes it in your bed and you like her in your bed, there's no reason to change. (Well, except that Marcelo's opinion matters some, too, hee hee.) She's still plenty young that you're not gonna be breeding bad habits yet. In one of books I read (Amy calls it the "sleep Nazi book") they say not to bother trying to put the baby in a room by themselves until four months; their nighttime sleep is unpredictable until then. (Also: babies don't read the books, so you will figure out what works best.) Joshua and Logan never were IN our bed (except for a few random nights when they just wouldn't sleep otherwise); I didn't move Josh out of our bedroom until he was four months old.
I envy your eight hours. Maybe it's just that he's teething, but my little squirt has been waking two or three times every night for almost a week now. :-P
Anyway. YAY! for milk regulation. Our bodies rock, huh?
We never had Collin in our bed, mostly because I can't sleep well next to my husband let alone a wiggly baby. But he did have the problem with being cold and waking up a lot. We got him some of those jammie bags that look like pajamas on top but are just a big bag on the bottom. He is 16 months old and is still using them because he refuses to keep a blanket on. But he stays warm.
I don't know why, because it doesn't apply to me at all, but for some reason, this blog cracked me up. Your little girl is so stinking cute. My parents are in town and I showed my mom some pics of her and she was like, man, why couldn't Nate be Latino so you could have cute little babies. Curse our whiteness, lol. Anyways, we want to hang out with you soon, and play with your babies (meaning Raya as well, because I heart her). Sleep well and I'm glad your melons are back to normal!
We used what Marianne said--Halo sacks or sleep sacks to keep Katelyn warm. They worked wonders!
Also, my nephew is one and still sleeps in bed with his parents. I couldn't stand it--Katelyn doesn't cuddle and she's too stimulated by our presence. I could never understand how my sister-in-law got her baby to sleep in bed with her.
We've used the "Sleep Nazi" book and let Katelyn cry it out (okay, we only lasted 10 minutes tops before I had to go get her...) but she sleeps in her crib GREAT now. She knows that when we put her in there it's sleep time and she usually doesn't even make a peep. It's great. But you just have to find what works for you. Most moms I've talked to say they couldn't stand that. I guess I'm pretty heartless when it comes to messing with my own sleep.
who said babies sleep well in their own crib?? not me.
kids are smart and they know you are their personal furnace. they know that if you are lying next to them, you are NOT doing something productive like the laundry, the dishes or taking a shower. these chores take precious time away from baby. smart kids!
you're doing great!
Hey, I NEVER told you it would be easy to transition. I have a 3 year old that thinks his room is my room. But, I do have something for you to try if you haven't already. Get a thick baby quilt - open it up - then roll it up and put it around the outside baby girl with the middle going around her butt. So, she'll feel like someone is there. Does that make sense? That's what they have around all the babies in the NICU and it totally works.
Our first son, slept in our bed from the first night on. Our second son he slept with us for a month before being banished to the crib. Our Third son was in bed with us for a week. The baby got one night and then we said 'nuff of that! Still, I wander into my room at 2am to go to bed and Lisa will be stretched kiddy corner to corner, Jack on MY pillow and Milo, the dog somewhere in the middle. It's not worth the hassel to move everyone so I wander back downstairs and sleep on the couch. How glamorous!
All babies are different and you'll figure it out. Bella for some odd reason liked her crib and everytime I walk in her room now she gets excited, it's really funny. When you decide to do it though stick to it so she will then learn that her crib is where she sleeps. Maybe have her take naps in it. I didn't, but maybe that could work getting her used to it. I wouldn't stress. I think once they hit 3-4 months is when you should start training them on sleeping them where you want. Your doing just fine!
You need to get some halo sleep sacks! I LOVE those things. Keep them warm and it's easy to change them. Brilliant. Noah's the only baby that slept in his crib from day one. (Pay no attention to what that "Joel" guy was saying up there) all the others were in bed with us a good 4-5 months. You get to the "I'll do whatever I have to do to get some sleep" stage. And to me, if that meant letting them sleep between us, then throw them in there!
