Marcelo's Favorite Commerical

I love my husband. For some reason he's so freaking funny. Take for example this commercial:

I'm going to get a video of his face as the commercial comes on. He's like a little kid on Christmas morning!! His face lights up, and he starts singing along. When the "talking part" comes on, he turns to me, and says, "This is the coolest commercial." But then whips his head back around to watch the commercial again when the song comes on. For the end, he's usually BOUNCING around to the music and singing along.

Pure joy. Absolute pure joy. It's the funniest thing you will ever see, and it makes me happy to be his wife.

Ahhh, the joys of advertisements. Thanks for bringing my husband and myself such unbridled joy!

Laura Ashley

Ok, lots of posts today. But I forgot to add this to the previous post with all those pictures. This is an outfit that someone from my Orem ward gave to me. It's Laura Ashley. Can you tell?

Evelyn obviously isn't a fan. I don't know if it's the pink, the rosebuds the puffy sleeves, the collar with embroidery or the front pattern that's been sewn. AAAAGGGGHHH!!!

But here are some more shots of the monkey girl being cute in her crazy outfit.

I love her personality so much these days!! Finally, here is a cute video of her in the not so cute outfit.

Why did I get blessed with such a beautiful and happy baby? I am one lucky lady.

A Few Great Pictures

I've been wanting to post some of these pictures for a while now. Here is a video of Evi's "half smile":

Pay no attention to the bad camera work at the end and the bad Spanish right in the middle. She's just so freaking cute. Oh, and notice how Raya is always there. Can't be away if something is going on.

And here is some awesome pictures of Evita's hair:

Isn't it great? We usually get a great "faux-hawk" going right after her bath. It usually falls flat after he first nap, but for a while it sticks straight up with a curl. I really want her to have curly hair.

And I would like to thank Lisa for freaking me out by telling me that Jack was born with curly hair and it all fell out and is now stick straight. I want my baby to have curly hair. But with Marcelo's straight STRAIGHT hair, I think she has a really good chance of having it be that way too. Dang you Marcelo and your hair!!

On another hair note, how can I convince Marcelo to try to grow out his hair? I need to get some photos of guys with straight hair who let it grow long. I think the problem is that it has like NO BEND to it at all. I don't know how long it would have to be for it to fold over. It's so thick and so straight and it just sticks out from whence it comes out of his head. Because of this, he prefers to have it SHORT. Nearly Military short. You can see his scalp through some parts on it. I think we need to have a hair intervention.

Moving on. Here are some pictures of her and that "creepy latino guy" we refer to as "Dad" every once in a while.

To answer your question, yes, we are usually always in our underwear. Cause it's easier to clean spit up and poop out of one set of clothes, rather than through two layers. So even though we are wearing our underwear here, I'm going to put a video of her and the Creepy Latino Guy:

I think my little girl is just perfect. And she's starting to be so much fun!! She talks to us, and in the morning she's just so alert and awake. I know it's time for her to go and sleep in her crib at night, but there is just something amazing about curling up next to your little sleeping baby and hearing her sweet breath in your ear. I'm really going to miss these days. And now I know why people have babies over and over again.

Finally, here is a picture of the booger I pulled out of my girl's nose:

And a close up, just in case you wanted to see more:

OUCH!! Can you imagine having that rock hard thing in your nose? It was days before it came out all the way. It was being quite reclusive for a while, and then it would poke out a little, and then go back in. I tried using the balloon to pull it out, but I think it just pushed it back in. Finally, all her huffing and crying pushed out a corner of it, and I could grab it with some tweezers. And this is what came out!! Man, what an ordeal!! But at least it's gone now. And now there is room in there for MORE boogers. WHOO HOOO!!!

Hi, My name is Alicia. . .

Top ten ways you know that you have a blogging problem:

10. You wake up early to write a blog about being addicted to blogs

9. When you moved houses, the first thing you did was make sure your Internet was up and running. Otherwise you might've been forced to put on clothes and leave the house to blog!

8. You feel guilty when you go several days without blogging becuase you feel like you are "letting down" your fans.

7. You are delusional enough to think that you have "blogger fans"

6. When your husband comes home from school you rip the laptop out of his hands so you can check Google Reader for updates.

5. You have a separate blog for your child, your husband, yourself, your family as a whole, your job your ward calling and another one "just for fun."

4. You leave an event early so you can go home and blog about it.

3. Your husband comes home and asks how your day was and you say, "Didn't you read my blog about it?"

2. You have a dream where you almost get carjacked in the parking lot of your old job. In your dream you get away and notify the police, but they can't do anything. You are still mildly shaken up about it, but you drive away thinking, "Well at least I'll get a good blog post out of it."

1. And then you wake up and are DISAPPOINTED THAT YOU WEREN'T NEARLY CARJACKED CAUSE THERE JUST WENT YOUR COOL POST!!

If you have any of these symptoms, please feel free to join me every Wednesdays at noon for my"Bloggers helping Bloggers" program. It's at my house here in Provo. Don't forget your laptop and your digital camera so you can take pictures of the event to post later on your blog.

Refreshments will be served.

. . . And I liked it

So Marclo watched "So You Think You Can Dance" last night without me. Reagan had already told me who was kicked off, so I wasn't in terrible suspense. She also told me about Kat's giant hair and I wanted to see it for myself. I thought it was HUGE, but still not as bad as the night before where it looked like she hadn't even run a comb through it after she got out of the shower.

Anyway, when I got home he wanted to show me some of his favorite dances and parts of the show. He immediately clicked onto the musical guest Katy Perry singing "I kissed a girl, and I liked it." I'm sure you've all heard this song. You can't turn on the radio now without hearing it. It's the new "Bubbly" for this summer. But Marcelo thought Katy was really cute and her face was really full of expression. That's what he kept saying, anyway. I don't think it hurt that she was wearing a skirt that nearly showed her whole goody.

Well, after we watched that and a few other dances, we went to bed. But not without some musical accompaniment in the form of Marcelo singing over and over again "I kissed a girl and I liked it" in a really nice hight falsetto voice. It made me laugh every time. And then about the 4th time he sang it he said, "Wait. She's a girl singing the song. And she said she kissed a girl? I don't get it. Why is she kissing girls?"

HAHAHAHA!!!! Why is my husband so freaking funny? Why why why? Oh man, I wish all of you could know the joys of being married to a foreigner and of having experiences like this on a regular basis. I guess I should be happy he likes this song and not "Tootsie Roll" and then have him ask me what a "Tootsie Roll" is. Yikes!!

WRITE THAT ONE DOWN!!

I don't know if everyone is aware that my family is crazy. Sometimes it's the crazy that makes you so embarrassed you want to shave your head and move to Tibet so you never have to talk to anyone anymore. But sometimes it's the crazy that makes great memories and then makes you so happy that this is your family.

That IS my family when it comes to the 4th of July. And the funny thing is that for the most part, I know that my family is crazy. But sometimes, I'm just so IN it that I don't see the craziness until I step away and try to explain it to people. And as I'm doing it, I hope that people are enjoying it as much as I am.

So I tried to do that last night. I went over to Lisa's house and she bought a big package of Fireworks from Costco. It was so much fun because her boys would attach a firework to their bikes or scooters and ride around their cul-de-sac with sparks shooting out the backs. So much fun. Noah got spooked one time and dropped the scooter with the sparks, and Eli picked it up and rode it out. Another time, Eli was riding around and was taking his hands off the handlebars. He was so great and having such a great time. And we loved watching it.

So, that's what we did last night. But if it were my family, if I were home and spending time with my family this is what would happen:

We would buy a few "choice" fireworks and plenty of sparklers and ground flowers. We never really bought the big box of fireworks, just a few individual ones. As a 7-12 year old, you want to just set off as many as you can in a row. As soon as one ends, you want another one to be lit up. Never ending fireworks, that's a kid's idea of what fireworks should be. NOT IN MY FAMILY! You have to ANNOUNCE the name of the firework before you light it off. Here is a play by play for you.

Me: (Running out with a lighter and another one) I have the next one!!
My mom: WHAT'S IT CALLED? READ THE NAME!!
My aunt: The name!! The name!!
Me: It's called "Golden Showers"
My aunt: What did you say? Say it louder. Grandma didn't hear
Me: (shouting out from the middle of the street) IT'S CALLED "GOLDEN SHOWERS"
My aunt, mom and Grandma: (Mixed mumbles of ) oh, "Golden Showers". . .. oh, that sounds nice. . .oh, I wonder if that's safe. . . hmm Golden Showers. . .Sounds lovely. . .Golden Showers. . .
Me: (Lights the firework)
Firework: (Explodes)
My aunt, mom and Grandma: Oooooooo!!! Weeee!!! (Clapping) Look at that!! Ohh!! "Golden Showers" indeed!! Ohh! how nice!! This is a good one What's that one called again? "Golden Showers?" Oooooo! That's very descriptive!! Very appropriate!! Oooo!! Weeee!!!! (Clapping) Weeee!!! This is a good one.
Firework: (Ends)
Grandma: Write that one down!! That was a good one! Write that one down for next year! I want to get that one again next year. Write it down. Who has the paper? Shari, do you have the paper? Who has the paper? Dakota, go get a piece of paper.
Everyone: (waits for my cousin Dakota to get a piece of paper and a pen. No other fireworks can be set off while we are waiting for the paper and pen)
Grandma: Write that one down. What was it called again? Flaming Fountain? No? What was it called again? Alicia, run out to the street, read the name off it again.
Me: (Not running out to the street) I think it's called "Golden Showers"
Grandma: Run out and look just to make sure.
Me: (Running out into the street and wondering why we can't just set these off like normal families do. Why is it such a dang procedure?) (Me shouting) IT'S CALLED GOLDEN SHOWERS
Grandma: Oh yeah, Golden Showers. WRITE THAT ONE DOWN.
Me and my cousins: Can we do another one? Let's do another one. Quick! Let's do another one!!
My aunt, mom and Grandma: Ok, you can do another one. . .WHAT'S IT CALLED?? READ THE NAME FIRST!!!

I'm not kidding when I said that it took a million years to set off fireworks. The 4th was never my favorite holiday for this reason. But looking back on it, I think it's so funny that they would torture all of us this way. I fully expect to torture my kids in the same way.

And let's face it!! It has made for some great memories. If you want to make me and my brothers and sisters smile, all you have to do is say, "WRITE THAT ONE DOWN." Ahh, crazy family memories.

Another thing you should know is that fireworks can be legally set off in Eureka year round. It's so green and so wet that there is no fire danger ever. So you can set them off whenever you want. And boy do we!! And we come up with some pretty nifty ways to doctor them up. Ground Fowers and Piccolo Pete's are the most easily doctored, and they create the most "spectacular" results. But that's another story for another day.

Finally, here are some pictures of "Hobo Paisley."

Eating several Oreos created this nice beard. And I think she found this corn cob off someone's plate. Let's all assume she found it off a plate rather than the alternative: She pulled it out of the garbage where it was lying next to one of Evi's dirty diapers. Yeah, I prefer the plate image.

Anyway, I'm so thankful to Reagan, Joey and Lisa for inviting me and making the 4th so much fun. Here's to more 4th of July memories!!

Some Additional Photos

Here are some more photos of Evita.

My tiny little scrawny-legged baby. She's definitely plumped up since then. See?

Chubby little legs!! This was us in the middle of moving. I just thought it was so funny to put her in this box. Maybe it's not so funny now that I think about it.
Yeah, I guess it's not too funny. As you can tell, Evi doesn't think it's funny at all. Babies have no sense of humor!!

You would think that I'm never holding my child because every picture I take is her in this chair. Wanna know the truth? I don't want to be in pictures yet, but I want to take pictures of her. And she's just so cute sitting there.

Look at her big eyes in the left picture!! So alert and awake!! And I love how she's raising her hand, like she's got a question. "Um, Mom? Can I ask a question? Why are your boobs so big? Is that my doing?"

And then she's got the "shifty eyes" here. Like she's not sure if she can trust this person looming over her making noises to get her attention.

Also, to answer your questions, yes, I dress my child primarily in sleepers. Is that becuase she's sleeping most of the time? Well, you would think so. But no, the truth is that that's all the clothes I have for her. I have mostly sleepers and then like 3 outfits. (not kidding) I'm just wary of buying clothes that she's going to not use in 2 months. Sorry, the cheapie in my is coming out at my baby's expense.

This is my family after we went to Seven Peaks. My baby is wearing the CUTEST bathing suit. I'll take another picture of it and post it later. But Jeff and 4 of his 5 kids were there. Jeff is on the far left with his youngest Rayce on his lap.

Funny story about Rayce. She started throwing up at Seven Peaks and was going strong for about the next hour. It was a combination of traveling, lack of sleep from travel, bad travel food, no water, and the heat. Oh, and not knowing this, we gave her a nice big container of Dippin' Dots to eat. That's actually what she threw up. Poor girl. But it was awesome becuase she just kept going and going and going. The never ending puke machine! Sleep, water and some good food had her feeling great in a few hours.

Here is Evi after a long hot day of, well, sleeping!! She's all tuckered out. Look at the chub rolls on her arms! Mamma's milk is good!! (Pay no attention to the creepy Latino person holding her. That's just someone I pulled off the street to hold my baby for a photo)

Finally these pictures KILL me. We have the "tongue play," the "half smile" and the "gastrointestinal blowout" (I don't think she really was filling her pants, but this is the look she normally gives when she's doing that.) HA HA HA!!! Anyway, I think that my baby is darling. "Love you, Angelbabe!"

Finally, I *would* blog about moving from my 2800 square foot house into a 650 square foot 1 bedroom apartment but it's still too raw right now. It's still too sensitive a subject for me and I don't want to think about it. Basically I can't blog about it becuase it's not funny yet. Once it becomes funny, I'll talk about it. Until then I'll just be whining, and no one wants to hear (or read) a whiner.

Actually, that's not 100% true. Something funny happened last night. I had just put Evi down and I didn't want to make any noise, and so I was tiptoeing around our room that still have boxes all around. Well, I tripped over one box, and out falls our kettle and it just made the funniest sound as I was stubbing my toe on it. And I laughed becuase it was so LOUD. There I go, tripping around trying to be quiet and doing a crap job of it. See, even my "funny" moment in my house isn't really funny. This house kills all the funny right out of me. Bastard house.

Anyway, I can't wait for the 4th of July. I don't know why. Maybe cause I plan to eat my weight in hamburgers and Doritos. Bring on the Fireworks!!
