If you have a child, when they hand you your child at the hospital, they say "Now, you must do blog posts about Halloween. If you don't, we will find out and come GET this child and give her to a family that knows how to use a camera, and will properly document her holidays."
So, I 'm obliged to do this post. Sorry if you don't want to read it.
Last year Evi's was a pig. Or should I call her a "piglet"? I still have the ears I made. I might use them on another child years down the road. But this year my mom found a great costume at a garage sale. And she knows that I like the color green and I like to dress my girl like a boy. Let's all admit it. I do. So she sent it to her, and my kid is AWESOME looking.
Here she is at the Halloween Party our ward had Wednesday night. She really didn't care about trick or treating. She just wanted to eat her popcorn and wander the halls. My child is SO super anti-social. There were about 50 kids there all her age! And she didn't want anything to do with them. She kept walking away from them and walking into the foyer so she could sit and enjoy her sucker in peace.
Here are some pictures of her avoiding kids and eating her sucker in peace. Oh, she was a Kimono Dragon for Halloween.
Seriously anti-social, right? Is that inherited?
Ok, and as an added bonus, here is her using her very effective non-verbal skills to tell me what she wants.
I'm teaching her bad habits, obviously. But pumpkin ice cream is SOOOOO good.

I liked your first paragraph so much that I read it aloud to Nathan. It's funny because it's true! You ARE obligated to do a Halloween post once you have kids!!
I really like Evi's costume. CUTE. And I think it's still normal at this age to not be that interested in other kids. Could be an age thing; though of course could be a personality thing.
The video of her raiding the freezer is too cute. :-) I've never tried pumpkin ice cream; I may have to do that. If I can break away from my standard CHOCOLATE-based ones!!
Evi's costume is AWESOME! I can't believe she was willing to wear it. New rule: If your kid refuses to wear a costume than you are NOT obligated to do a Halloween post. Too bad I didn't make up that rule sooner. But really, Evi's costume is totally adorable and I LOVE that first picture of her--posing and strutting her stuff. I think ignoring other kids at that age is perfectly normal, too.
Mmm...I've never tried pumpkin ice cream before but for some reason ALL things pumpkin sound good in October and November and I'm always so tempted to try Arby's Pumpkin shakes...do they compare at all to the ice cream?
I am totally in favor of the Halloween post with kids rule. This may change when I *have* any of them, mind you, but for now I will gladly mooch off you all and enjoy the glut of costumed cuteness that comes this time of year.
I see Evi is learning early in life to distinguish what is truly good in this life. Mmmm...pumpkin ice cream....
man, your daughter looks precious! what a great costume.
